Why Become A Hero for the Homeless?

Imagine a community where Veterans and families living on Long Island no longer have to struggle to make ends meet. A place where we can all come together to make sure that hard working parents, their children and the Veterans who have fought for this country have a chance at a sustainable life. “Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness” right in our own backyard is exactly what we are working towards here at New Ground.

Founded in 1991, New Ground provides social work and education services to help families and veterans break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Comprehensive services consist of employment counseling, financial literacy, life skills development including parenting and household maintenance, educational tutoring, reading assistance, education advocacy, tuition assistance, and much more.

Since opening our doors, over 80% of the families have graduated from New Ground self sufficient and able to afford a home of their own. New Ground empowers our children, parents and Veterans to achieve their goals so they can secure a brighter future – for generations to come.

Join us as we raise critically needed funds so the Veterans and families participating in our programs will be able to continue reaching their outlined goals toward self-sufficiency and secure permanent stable housing when they graduate from New Ground.

Thank you for being a friend to New Ground!
