Why Participate?

Imagine a community where Veterans and families living on Long Island no longer have to struggle to make ends meet. A place where we can all come together to make sure that hard working parents, their children and the Veterans who have fought for this country have a chance at a sustainable life. “Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness” right in our own backyard is exactly what we are working towards here at New Ground and thanks to your steadfast support, the Veterans and families participating in our programs will be able to continue reaching their outlined goals toward self-sufficiency and permanent stable housing.

For over 28 years New Ground has celebrated numerous achievements of program participants as they acquire the life skills needed to become self-supportive, including the children who are now learning the same skills to change their paths in life as early as possible.  Our programs are not just getting homeless families and Veterans off the streets for a few years; they are changing the trajectory of lives for generations to come.
